There are certain rules of etiquette that surround a baby shower. One of these is the rule about who should host a shower for a family to be. There used to be the rule that someone who was not related to the family should be the one to host the shower, but that is not the case today. Although many friends or co-workers will often host a baby shower for a new set of parents, the showers can also be hosted by members of the immediate family as well.

Sometimes it is hard to tell when to host the shower since the pregnancy runs for nine months. However, usually the shower is hosted about two months before the baby is born. That way the baby has made it past the first two trimesters when there can be some complications that arise, and it is still enough time for the parents to set up the nursery and fill in any gaps that are not filled through the baby showers.

Sometimes the baby showers are held after the baby has been born. These showers can be helpful to the new parents and are also fun for the friends and family members to get together and see the new baby. After the fact baby showers allow any gaps in necessities to be filled in as well as larger sizes of clothing and different toys to be bought for the baby. Usually these showers are held about two months after the baby is born to give the parents the time to adjust to the new schedule around the home. These showers can be held in a variety of different locations, such as a friend’s home, a restaurant or a park. When throwing the shower, it is a good idea to check with the parents to see who to invite.
