Some people wait until their child is 2 or 3 to start the lavatory training process. This is the time that many parents see success with their children, in terms of potty training. It is possible to start potty training at a younger age, however. potty training babies is a simple way to get the process started.

Those who are thinking about toliet training infants should know that they will not be successful right away. When you bathroom train a baby, you are simply getting them used to the idea. You are slowly introducing them to the idea behind potty training and using the bathroom. This will make it easier for you to potty train your child when they get a little older.

Removing Pressure

The first step to toliet training a baby is to realize that you cannot put any pressure or force on the situation. While you may be able to force the issue with an older child, this is not the case with infants. You need to be relaxed and realize that this may not work. There should be no negative reinforcement whatsoever. You need to understand that your child is too young to fully grasp the situation. They will not come out of this process fully potty trained.

Understanding your Baby

The important part of potty training a baby is to fully understand your child. You need to be able to fully understand when they are going to relieve themselves. This includes both urinating and passing a bowel movement. If you cannot pick up on your childÕs cues, you will not be able to work with them. If they do not make any signs or signals when they are about to pass movements, you will need to be especailly alert to the orders generated by the child.

How to Do It

Potty training with babies is simple. You need to understand when your child is going to pass a bowel movement. You bring them to the bathroom, and hold them over the toilet. You then talk to them and encourage them to pass their movement. While they may not understand what you are saying, this talk will make them feel comfortable, and will allow them to relax.

Some parents choose to hold their child over a sink as opposed to holding the baby over the toilet. To some parents, this is slightly safer and easier. It is important for you to be comfortable with the process as well. Children will feed off of your mood and relaxation.

An alternative approach to the above suggestions would be a small potty chair, that the infant will feel comfortable sitting on. You as the parent will find this method much easier to cope with than the other two methods mentioned above.

Some parents are not comfortable with potty training their young child. This technique is not for everyone. It is a safe method that may be able to help your child with potty training. Consider your own thoughts on the subject, as well as your baby. If you feel that this is something that you and your child can handle, give it a try.
